Job Purpose:

To ensure that all academic operations comply with all relevant IIE Policies, processes and procedures as per the Academic Planner and operational processes and systems.

Key Performance Area:

Management of Academic & Assessment Delivery:

  • Responsible for managing the implementation/administration of academic programs  (IIE and External Institutes)
  • Responsible for managing the implementation/administration and security of the assessment and moderation process
  • Ensure lecturer evaluations and class visits are done timeously, results captured, analysed and interventions implemented
  • Implement and manage intervention to improve on academic delivery and student academic success
  • Report on feedback received from program reviews in conjunction with the ADC

Management of Human Resources:

  • Responsible for the operational efficiency of the HOD team
  • Interview short listed independent contractors and invigilators and provide advice to the Principal  on renewal of existing contracts and issuing of new ones
  • Conduct invigilator training in conjunction with HOD Assessment
  • Give timeous feedback to lecturers after class visits and lecturer evaluations
  • Involved in the recruitment process, induction and mentoring of new academic/support staff
  • Manage the probation, performance and appraisal process for the HOD team
  • Ensure IIE approval of lecturers and lecturing hours
  • Maintain independent contractor files
  • Advise direct staff on leave provision and planning 

Information Management through sound polic / procedure implementation:

  • Ensure compliance and quality assure academic processes/procedures governed by the policies of the IIE and RC National Office procedures
  • Consult and ensure foreign student compliance
  • Ensure admission criteria and subject selection is aligned
  • Accountable for archiving of academic/assessment documentation
  • Develop and implement spreadsheets/tracking grids to ensure accurate data retention and analysis
  • Ensure any deviations to student code of conduct are reported and escalated through incident reports
  • Ensure Alias user permissions are correctly implemented

Delegation of Authority:

  • Sign-off special assessment and academic requests
  • Sign-off certification and reissue requests
  • Sign-off academic reports
  • Sign off educational material orders
  • Sign-off academic notices/communiqué

Management of Client Services & Communication:

  • Ensure customer satisfaction through quality academic provision
  • Facilitate distribution of academic information and interaction between SLB, class representatives, students and across departments
  • Convey academic changes pertinent to marketing department
  • Organise academic events/happenings (Lecturer/student orientation, lecturer meetings/forums, training)
  • Liaise with the RC national office regarding academic queries
  • Consult the IT department in applying resources in timetabling assessments and lectures
  • Organise graduation
  • Manage the registration process for the academic department and its interface with other departments

Management of Financial Redources:

  • Approve and process lecturer claims for payroll submission
  • Assist in the budgeting process (lecturer rates, desk and chairs, whiteboards, stationary)
  • Ensure effective management of results release in line with debt collection procedure
  • Ensure cost effective timetabling and allocation of resources

Education:

  • Bachelor€™s Degree in Higher Education (Hons)

Work Experience:

  • 2 - 5 years Higher Education lecturing experience, 2 - 5 years in Teacher or Lecturer development
