Programme Manager

Job Purpose:

To be responsible and accountable for all communication between the site, students and lecturers for a specific programme Lecturing approximately 15hrs a week, creating a culture where students value diversity and have high ethical values.

Key Performance Area:

Curriculum delivery

  • Lecturing approximately 10hrs a week;
  • Lesson preparation, marking and moderation as required

Lecturer Support

  • Attend Faculty Workshops
  • Planning and facilitation of Lecturer Forum meetings;
  • Co-ordinate subject specific Tutorials;
  • Ensure Lecturers integrate appropriate student support services into the classroom based on learner needs

Student support

  • Conduct student Orientation Workshops;
  • Conduct student Development Workshops (Plagiarism; Study Skills, Numeracy and Literacy Skills, etc.);
  • Plan and facilitate WRP sessions;
  • Meet with Class Representatives and submit reports;
  • Conduct class visits and consult with students on all registration and academic queries;
  • Analyse and track student performance and implement appropriate interventions
  • Identify and implement interventions for At-Risk Students;
  • Integrate student support services in the classroom;
  • Provide input regarding PIPO for specific programmes;Manage disputes and complaints between lecturers and students;
  • Plan the preparation and submission of assignments;
  • Coordinate WIL sessions and track academic progress and submission of PoEs;
  • Initiate Disciplinary Enquiries/Hearings as per need;

Programme Development & Review

  • Provide academic module feedback and collate per programme;
  • Analyse all assessment feedback and plan improvement interventions;
  • Monitor all new programmes implemented;
  • Analyse and interpret survey results and follow-up with relevant individuals;
  • Conduct Programme Reviews €“ e.g. Question-by-Question Analysis, Module and Manual feedback, etc



  • Bachelor€™s Degree in Education (Hons) - Foundation Phase


  • PGDHE or equivalent or Honours Degree in Education
  • Registered Assessor
  • Registered Moderator

Work Experience:

  • 3 - 5 years Higher Education Teaching experience
  • 5yrs Industry Experience
  • An understanding of the current South African Higher Education regulatory framework and its impact on higher education and private colleges.
