Credit Control Manager

Job Purpose:

To manage the outstanding sales balances falling due and contact customers before the balances become overdue to confirm payments.

So what does a credit controller do?  In short, a credit controller manages debts, reduces a company€™s debt burden and deals with late payments

Job function: 

  • Manage the outstanding sales balances falling due by calling
  • Resolving queries
  • Reconciliation of accounts
  • Process adjustments/corrections
  • Deal with customers diligently, courteously and preofessionally 
  • Ensure timeous allocations of payments Received
  • Authorizing of student account billing
  • Attach payment plans

What kind of personality do I need?

Credit controllers work with people and their money - usually a sensitive subject. Because it is necessary to maintain good customer relationships, a pleasant personality and appearance, as well as the ability to speak and write effectively are required.

Furthermore, credit controllers sometimes have to demand on overdue accounts and this may put some extra strain on them. However, they have to be discreet yet firm.

Persons interested in credit control should be able to analyse detailed information and draw valid conclusions based on this analysis. They must be prepared to spend most of their working day doing calculations.


  • Matric plus financial qualification


Work Experience:

  • Minimum 5 years€™ experience in credit control
  • Good telephone manner
  • Ability to speak at leat one African language
  • Ability to understand and read a statement in order to identify overdue accounts
  • Concise and assertive
  • Excel knowledge
  • Patience and deligence
