Job Purpose:

The teaching and development of students; the establishment of a knowledge base of the discipline through academic research & development, and academic support

Key Performance Area:

  • Lecturing a certain number of modules in the School of Education
  • Mark and report students€™ assessment
  • Plan and organize Teaching and Learning intervention through student support resources available on campus   
  • Evaluate and give feedback to students during Teaching Experience
  • Contribute to professional development by supporting skills initiatives of the School of Education
  • Develop, monitor and support students in community engagement learning
  • Support the academic team


  • B.Ed. Honours degree
  • an Honours degree in the language to be lectured
  • another Humanities/Arts/Social Science Honours
  • Postgraduate Diploma in Education (at NQF level 8)
  • The undergraduate qualification must include a module on Teaching and Learning/Pedagogy.
  • the language to be lectured must be included as a major (up to third year level),
  • the Postgraduate Teaching Diploma (NQF level 8) must have the language to be lectured as a didactic subject.

Work Experience:

  • School teaching experience in the FAL is required.  FAL lecturing experience is ideal
