Teaching & Learning Manager

Job Purpose:

To manage IIERC€™s LMS provision, alignment and integration with the strategic imperatives of the IIE as well as IIERC€™s academic strategy.

Key Performance Area:

LMS development and integration to support strategic imperatives

  • Ensure compliance in implementing strategic directives issued by the IIE 
  • Represent the brand in LMS related strategic discussions and decision making processes 

Manage LMS content provision 

  • Lecturer Development
  • Manage the provision of LMS content prior to, during and after the "go-live" date 
  • Address LMS queries from the ITSU team and escalate those that require additional assistance 

Monitoring, analysis and improvement of LMS provision 

  • Analysis of usage, engagement and other pertinent analytics on a consistent basis
  • Recommendations that inform changes in practice by LMS users to align with best practice
  • Consultation with student support portfolios to promote alignment between LMS use and academic and T&L strategy 

Content development  

  • Manage the development of content for IIERC 
  • Collaborate with academic staff in identifying and correcting problems and defiencies within curriculum technology-based programs 
  • Set criteria and parameters to foster appreciation for and understanding of how technology can impact learning and in turn, each student€™s future


  • Minimum NQF-level 8 Honours Degree in Educational Technology or related qualification
  • Honours Degree in IT or Computer Science with an endorsed certificate in Educational Technology or Blackboard certified training.  


  • Masters in educational technology 

Work Experience:

  • 5 years experience in higher education working on LMS such as Blackboard, Sakai or Moodle Management
  • 2 years experience in educational management  
  • 3 years experience in training lecturers to use related hardware and software in the learning process  
  • 2 years risk identification with content and deployment in the LMS
